The auction site administrator can define their own bidding deltas, or bidding increments/decrements. The software will automatically determine the next minimum bid based on the last bid. It calculates according to a predefined bidding deltas table. This feature is used to prevent bidders from placing inordinately low bids in an attempt to outbid the current bidder. For example, on a typical auction site, you would not want a bidder placing bids that are only a few cents higher than a previous bid. Normally, you would want subsequent bids to be at a more reasonable amount. For this, xcAuction allows the administrator to define appropriate bidding deltas. It is possible to define a configuration such that bids increase by at least $0.25 each time for bids under $9, but when bidding increases above that, bids increase by at least $1. Each one of these tiers allows you to define the range of bid values and bid increments.
